Airbnb Open Homes Program

Host people in need of critical care and respite.
Offer free, temporary housing to people who need a place to call home.

Many people need to travel for medical reasons, and too often the cost of temporary accommodations can be a major barrier to accessing life-saving treatment or critical respite during recovery. Having free, short-term housing can help ease a patient’s financial concerns, while giving them the hope and energy they need to overcome illness.
That’s where the Open Homes community comes in. Hosts can provide a free and welcoming space for people to heal.

How you’ll host:

TREATMENT STAYS
Open Homes partners with nonprofits like Fisher House Foundation to help place patients near medical centers. During these stays, your role is to offer a comfortable space to stay while they or their loved one receives treatment at a nearby hospital.
Patients will be accompanied by their family or caregiver. They’ll also have a dedicated nonprofit coordinator who offers them support throughout their stay. These stays are usually 1 to 2 weeks.

RESPITE STAYS
Open Homes partners with nonprofits like Make-A-Wish to provide housing for critically ill children and their families who are granted a respite vacation. These trips can have a profound impact on their recovery. Your role will be to offer a welcoming space for the family to decompress and bond.
They’ll have a dedicated nonprofit coordinator who offers them support throughout their stay. These stays are usually 5 to 10 days.
