Northwest Medical Specialties (NWMS) was proud to have Kimberly Ngouv, MSW, represent our organization at this year’s Community Oncology Alliance (COA) Hill Day in Washington, D.C. The annual event brings together advocates from across the country to champion policies that protect and strengthen access to independent community oncology care.
Kim joined five fellow Washington state advocates, including patients and caregivers, in meetings with congressional legislative staff to discuss the critical importance of preserving access to high-quality, local cancer care. Together, they shared firsthand perspectives on how independent community oncology practices improve patient access, foster strong provider-patient relationships, and often offer a more convenient and cost-effective alternative to hospital-based outpatient care.
Throughout the day, advocates emphasized the powerful role patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals play in shaping policies that impact cancer care delivery. Their conversations highlighted the importance of ensuring patients can continue to receive personalized, comprehensive care close to home.
The experience was an inspiring reminder of the impact advocacy can have on the future of healthcare. We are grateful to Kim for representing NWMS and for her continued dedication to supporting patients and advancing access to community-based oncology care.
