Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner
Emma Broussard is an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner with a certification in palliative and hospice care. In addition, she is primary care trained. She will be working closely with Dr. Zhang in our Tacoma and Federal Way clinics.
Emma previously worked building an inpatient palliative and pain management program at a hospital in Central Texas. Emma dedicated herself to educating nursing and support staff on end of life care, as well as sickle cell disease. She spearheaded the creation of a sickle cell pain management order set and participates in sickle cell provider focus groups. Emma has nursing experience in medical surgical, acute care, alcohol and drug withdrawal, urology, hospice, and emergency departments.
Emma became a provider for several reasons: the challenge of a lifelong pursuit of learning, and the opportunity to provide care for those facing tough medical challenges, particularly those with terminal or life limiting diseases. She is passionate about providing those in her care with both medical and emotional support. Also, it is important to Emma to be able to provide patients with the information they need to make informed decisions about their care – so they remain a powerful part of their own health care journey.
Emma is also on the board of directors for Hot Mess Pooches, a 501c3 animal rescue in Houston, Texas, dedicated to helping special needs and senior dogs.
When she’s not in the clinic, Emma enjoys spending time with her husband and one year old daughter. She also loves creating stained glass, hiking, trying new recipes, Costco, bee keeping, and exploring the PNW.
