Sarah is currently a part of Community Collaboratory, a Seattle-based startup that matches individuals who wish to volunteer their time with fellow community members in need of help or services (often under the umbrella of those experiencing complex health needs and/or housing insecurity).
Why she became a provider
After working as a registered nurse for more than a decade, she desired more quality time with patients than what bedside nursing offered. She fell in love with Palliative Care early in her career and knew this was where her heart felt most at home. She became a nurse practitioner in order to help patients and their loved ones through challenging, transitional times when support is needed most. Health care can be overwhelming. It is her hope and aim to provide compassionate support: to help uncover humanity and meaning in even the most challenging moments.
What She loves most about Palliative Care is that it is all-encompassing; from symptom management to spirituality to every flavor of complex family dynamics, we are there for all of it. Facilitating difficult conversations is one of her favorite services to provide. She became a Palliative Care nurse practitioner so that she could advocate 100% for her patients. And no matter where they are on their journey, she considers herself the most honored of ushers to be able to offer support along the journey.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys traveling, spending time with her dog (she welcomes pictures of your dogs), making enthusiastic and well-intentioned efforts to cook/bake (though often failing), exploring all that the PNW has to offer, feeding her creativity through various art/projects, attending live music, and connecting with friends.
